Fort Scott National Historic Site

Search Fort Scott Pennsylvania

Fort Scott witnessed a decade of rapid westward expansion in the 1840s followed by civil strife and unrest in the 1850s that brought about our nation's deadliest conflict-the Civil War. Fort Scott National Historic Site consists of 20 historic structures, a parade ground and five acres of restored tallgrass prairie.

Eleven historic buildings containing 33 historically furnished rooms are open to the public. The site also contains three museum areas: the infantry barracks museum has exhibits about the site's history, the dragoon barracks museum has exhibits that tell about the soldiers stationed here in the 1840s, and exhibits in the Wilson-Goodlander house provide information about the site's construction.
