James A Michener Art Museum |
Located in the renovated 1884 Bucks County prison. The permanent collection features 19th-century regional American art, including many pieces by Pennsylvania impressionists and Daniel Garber's 22 foot mural, 'A Wooded Watershed.' The Mari Sabusawa Michener wing features a multimedia exhibition with individual displays about notables such as Oscar Hammerstein, Pearl S Buck and Dorothy Parker aw well as changing exhibits from national institutions. A permanent exhibit on author James A Michener re-creates his Bucks County office where he wrote 'Tales of the South Pacific'. The Nakashima Reading Room overlooks the courtyard; food is available.
