Kane is located in McKean County southeast of Warren along US Highway 6 near the Allegheny Reservoir and the Allegheny National Forest. Kane was founded in 1863 by General Thomas Kane who was Pennsylvania's first volunteer for the Civil War. The community is known as the Black Cherry Timber Capital of the World. Kane recieves an average of 107 inches of snowfall each year, making it the perfect location for winter sports, including cross country skiing, ice fishing, and more. The Holgate Toy Company, founded in 1929, still operates today.
