Montgomery County (of which it is the county seat) just northwest of
Philadelphia along Highway 422 on the banks of the Schuylkill River near Valley Forge National Historic Park. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 29,763, a decrease of 991 since 1990.
Norristown is part of the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-New Jersey metro area.
