Bucks County Historical Society |
The Bucks County Historical Society, founded in 1880, is a cultural and educational institution which operates Mercer Museum, Spruance Library, and Fonthill Museum. The Mercer Museum houses furnishings, folk art, and implements of early America. Fonthill is a concrete castle with 44 rooms, 18 fireplaces and more than 200 windows. The Spruance Library contains more than 25,000 books and magazines, manuscripts, photographs, maps, diaries, memorabilia, and microfilm. Family workshops, craft classes, children's summer craft camp, lectures, and seminars are offered. Annual programs include 'The Mercer Museum Folk Fest' where more than 100 skilled artisans demonstrate 18th and 19th century crafts related to exhibits in the museum.
