Gilbert Stuart Birthplace |
Located just east of US Hwy 1, this historic birthplace dating from 1750 features period furnishings, a water wheel and a snuff mill. Stuart, one of America's foremost portrait painters and especially noted for his portraits of George Washington, was born here in 1755.
Open Thursday-Monday, April through October.
