An art, natural history and science museum, with the newly established Gibbes Planetarium, the Museum enjoyed eminence as Columbia's premier cultural institution throughout the '50s and '60s. Today, contemporary art shares space with masterworks of the Baroque and the Renaissance periods. The museum also features a children's gallery and traveling exhibits. The Columbia Museum of Art is located in downtown Columbia on the corner of Main and Hampton streets. Museum and Museum Shop hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. The museum is closed on Mondays. The Museum and its facilities are accessible for physically challenged visitors.
