Opened in the spring of 2000, the South Carolina Aquarium is the home of thousands of plants and animals. The aquarium is an educational and conservation-oriented institution representing South Carolina's unique aquatic habitats. Visitors may enjoy a comprehensive tour of the state, from the mountains to the sea, under one roof. The aquarium feature nearly a million gallons of water teeming with life.

The aquarium is open July-August from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.; September-October & March-June from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.; and November-February from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The aquarium is open seven days a week.
