Near Yankton, and forming the border with Nebraska, Lewis and Clark Lake was created by Gavins Point Dam on the
Missouri River. Its 31,400 surface acres give it a 90-mile shoreline. It is 25 miles long and reaches a depth of 45 feet.
Lewis and Clark Recreation Area on its shores offers fishing, camping, biking, horse trails and water sports, with cross-country skiing in the winter.
It is a popular Midwest attraction.
