Dakota Heritage & Lakes Region, Madison is located in
Lake County (of which it is the county seat) northwest of
Sioux Falls where US 81 and Hwy 34 meet near Lake Madison and Lake Herman. Home of the South Dakota State University campus.
The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 6,650, an increase of 393 since 1990.
