Avera St. Luke's Hospital is the pioneer facility of Avera Health. Established in 1901 in Aberdeen, South Dakota as a 15-bed hospital, it has now grown to a regional medical center that offers a comprehensive array of medical and health services to people living in the surrounding 10 counties around Aberdeen. In addition to the 143-bed hospital, the center also provides services through Avera Mother Joseph Manor Retirement Community and the Avera United Clinic.
The medical center employs over 1100 employees in its hospital, long-term care, and clinic divisions. A Medical/Dental Staff of 76 local physicians represent 26 different specialties for the area's citizens. Over 250 volunteers serve an integral part of the success of the medical center.
