In Great Lakes Region, Mitchell is the seat of Davison County, and lies west of Sioux Falls just above I-90 on Hwy 37 on the banks of Firesteel Creek near the James River.Mitchell has a 5-screen motion picture theater complex and one drive-in theater. In addition, the city has one performing arts stage. There are two golf courses, one municipal and one public. Lake Mitchell provides boating, swimming and fishing. The Mitchell Recreation Center has an indoor swimming pool, basketball and raquetball courts and a weightlifting room. Mitchell has 19 city parks, a 24-lane bowling alley, 1 baseball diamond, 14 softball diamonds, 5 soccer fields, and a skating and ice hockey arena.
