Jackson County Library, serving an area of 2,900 residents, has a collection of 20,000 books and periodicals; in addition, there are 25 CDs, records, cassettes and other audio materials, as well as 63 video items, such as DVDs and VHS tapes.
Staffing consists of one employee, including one fully accredited librarian, plus volunteers. The system comprises one central library and 2 branch libraries. Annual expenditures on the library collection total $4,000. Patrons make 3,700 visits annually, and check out materials 13,800 times. Seventy-two percent of all check-outs are children's materials.
