Snake Creek Recreation area is located on Lake Francis Case. The lake is one of four reservoir impoundments created in South Dakota when the Missouri River was harnessed to control flooding. This lake has 102,000 surface acres when full. The 107-mile long lake has a maximum depth of 140 feet and 540 miles of shoreline.

Facilities include 92 campsites, camping cabins and a picnic area.

Snake Creek Recreation Area is located 14 miles west of Platte, off Hwy 44.
