Wynyard Golf Club was constructed in 1989 and was built mostly by volunteer fundraising. The town of Wynyard helped tremendously with an interest free loan and earth moving equipment, a donation, and moving the old school for the clubhouse location. The course's continued upgrading is financed by volunteer fundraising, membership fees and green fees. Wynyard's fairways are slightly undulating and bordered in many places by mature trees. Additional trees are planted on an ongoing basis. Water is in play on two holes, with the 5th fairway being split in two by a nerve testing expanse of one of these hazards. The course is fully irrigated. Despite the trees and the water, your biggest challenge at Wynyard will be to avoid its numerous sandtraps (22 in all) which make accuracy on your approach to the greens critical.
