Search Dunkeld

Located on the River Tay, this small town was once the home of British Kings in 729, and later the site of an abbey founded by Columbus monks. The most famous landmark in the city is a cathedral originally built in 1318, but not completed until two centuries later. In 1869, the town was destroyed by Highlanders during the Battle of Dunkeld. The National Trust has restored many of the town's cottages and buildings to their former state.
