Jedburgh is the county town of Roxburghshire on the Jed River, 50 miles southeast of Edinburgh. The remains of an abbey built of Old Red sandstone by David I in 1118 are said to be Scotland's most perfect example of Saxon and early Gothic architecture. The town was one of the first in Scotland to establish the manufacture of woolen textiles.
