Perth Scotland

Perth is the capital of Perthshire and is located on the River Tay, about 48 miles northwest of Edinburgh. It is connected by rail with Inverness, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, and Glasgow. Its beautiful site has won it the name of the "Fair City," and it has had a long and interesting history. Formerly known as St Johnstoun, it was the capital of Scotland until 1437. The kings of Scotland frequently resided in the Cistercian abbey, and many parliaments were held in Perth.
