Renfrewshire is a county of southwest Scotland, bounced on the north by the
Clyde and
Dumbartonshire, on the east by
Lanarkshire, on the south by
Ayrshire, and on the west by the Firth of Clyde. Its area covers 228 square miles.
The surface is irregular, reaching its highest point, in the southeast on the Ayrshire border, in the Hill of Stake at 1711 feet. The capital is Renfrew. Other important centers are Paisley, Grenock, Johnstone, and Port Glasgow.
