Cherokee National Forest

The Cherokee National Forest in eastern Tennessee offers clear streams, tranquil woodlands and a variety of recreational activities. The forest offers plenty of area for hikers, campers and even families with a motor home. Thirty campgrounds are scattered throughout the forest and most are available without reservations.

There are 650 miles of hiking trails, including 170 miles of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. Visitors can also swim, bird watch, go whitewater rafting or kayaking, hunt, fish or enjoy scenic drives.

The forest is bisected by the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. There are three forest districts north of the park and three districts south of the park.
