Pikeville is located in Bledsoe County
(of which it is the county seat) between Mount Airy and Melvine along US Highway 127 near Bledsoe State Forest and Fall Creek Falls State Park. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 1,935, an increase of 164 since 1990.
