Sam Davis Home

Located on Sam Davis Road, this is a restored mid-19th century frame structure of typical Colonial simplicity. This was the residence of the 21-year-old Confederate who chose death rather than a pardon when he refused to identify an informant after being captured behind Union lines. His words, 'Do you suppose that I would betray a friend? No sir, I would die a thousand times first', have become a symbol of heroism.

Open Monday through Saturday 9am-5pm, Sunday 1pm-4pm in June through August; hours vary the rest of the year.
