Houston was instrumental in creating this reservation in 1850s in a dense wooded area known as Big Thicket, home of the southern forest tribes. Explore this land via the Big Thicket bus tour which show trees, plants and native wildlife in one of the most beautiful forests in the state. Also Living Indian Village walking tour which demonstrates early life of the Alabama and Cousatta tribes. Home of Big Thicket National Preserve. Gift shop and inn.
