Located on over a thousand acres in the Boca Chica subdelta of the Rio Grande, the park was acquired and opened in 1994. It protects native vegatation, fauna, and geological structures in a natural state. Various non-intrusive activities are permitted, but subject to the threat of storms that may occur in any season.
