Caverns of Sonora

Located 8 miles northwest off I-10 exit 392 and 7 miles south on Caverns Road. A 1.5 mile trail winds through the cave, where the temperture is a constant 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Stalagmites, stalactites and helictites cover the walls, ceiling and floor of the cave. These translucent and phosphorescent formations exhibit a wide range of colors. On Saturdays from mid-June to mid-August, a cowboy/Western show is presented at 6:30 p.m. in a covered wagon dinner theatre. Picnic facilities and foodare available. Guided tours last from 45 minutes to 1.5-hours. Wear comfortable walking shoes.
