The park consists of almost 1900 acres, 12 miles south of
Quanah. Prior to the arrival of early settlers, the region was the realm of Commanche and Kiowa Indians. Near the present park area, Cynthia Ann Parker was recaptured from a band of Commanches and reunited with her relatives. Her son, Quanah Parker, was to become the last great war chief of the Commanche nation.
Activities at the park include camping, picnicking, boating, fishing, swimming, and more.
