Davis Mountains State Park, covering 2700 acres in Jeff Davis County, is four miles northwest of
Fort Davis, approximately halfway between
Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Carlsbad Caverns, and
Big Bend National Park. Original improvements was accomplished by the
Civilian Conservation Corps in 1933.
Activities include camping, sightseeing, nature study, picnicking, hiking, backpacking, and interpretive programs. The northern half of the park, north of Hwy 118, has been designated the Limpia Canyon Primitive Area.
