Fort Lancaster State Historical Park |
Located west of Ozona in Crockett County, the park covers 80 acres. Fort Lancaster was established in 185 to guard the San Antonio to El Paso Road and protect the movement of supplies and immigrants from Indian hostilities. It was abandoned in 1861 after the outbreak of the Civil War and Texas' secession from the Union. The parks offers exhibits on history, natural history, and archaeology.
