Located on the boundary between Comal and Kendall counties, the park is divided by the clear-flowing waters of the Guadalupe River. The park comprises a segment of the Texas Hill Country noted for its ruggedness and scenic beauty.

The park has 4 miles of river frontage. Visitors enjoy canoeing, fishing, swimming, hiking, and camping. The park is adjacent to Honey Creek State Natural Area.
