Located in the East Texas Pineywoods east of Rusk in Cherokee County, Jim Hogg State Historical Park covers 178 acres and has been open to the public since 1941. Like Governor Hogg Shrine State Hist. Park, it is a memorial to James Stephen Hogg, the first Texas-born governor of the state.

The park is for day use only and has a nature/interpretive trail and a picnic area. An iron-ore strip mining area can be viewed from a rise on the nature trail. The mining was done over a century ago.
