This historic building in
Castroville served many commercial purposes after its construction in the 1850's. Its final use was as an electric power generating plant, which brought the first electric lights to Castroville and was finally closed in 1935. Later, it was converted to accommodations in the 1940's and renamed Landmark Inn. The inn continues to operate. For day-use visitors, there is an interpretive exhibit hall, which tells of the development of Castroville, Landmark Inn, and the mill.
