Located in San Patricio, Jim Wells and Live Oak counties southwest of
Mathis, the park was leased from the City of
Corpus Christi in 1934. Many of the park's facilities were built by the
Civilian Conservation Corps during the 1930's. The 21,000-acre lake was formed by damming the Nueces River. Activities in the park include camping, picnicking, boating, waterskiing, and hiking. Facilities include restrooms, picnic sites, campsites, and launching ramps.
