Monahans Sandhills State Park

Located 5 miles east off I-20 to Park Road 41, includes 3,840 acres of sand dunes, part of a vast area that strectches into New Mexico. Many dunes are active, growing and changing shape, unlike most of the surrounding area, which has been stablized by shinoak and other vegetation. Drawings in the interpretive center depict the history of the dunes as well as that of the area's former inhabitants. A 2-mile road circling the dunes and a .2-mil nature trail let visitors explore the park.
