The Bedford Public Library opened June 30, 1964. It was located on Bedford Road in a small rented house. Construction of the present 17,000 square foot building on L. Don Dodson Drive was completed in 1987. At that time the library collection included 54,645 books, 3,250 paperbacks, and 3,417 audiovisual materials.
