Callahan County Library, serving an area of 3,500 residents, has a collection of 19,800 books and periodicals; in addition, there are 300 CDs, records, cassettes and other audio materials. Internet terminals are available for use by the general public.
Staffing consists of one employee, plus volunteers. Annual expenditures on the library collection total $560. Patrons make 1,380 visits annually, and check out materials 2,500 times. Twenty-eight percent of all check-outs are children's materials.
