The old Route 66 from Chicago to Los Angeles, immortalized in song, can be located in the
Amarillo area by signs erected by the Texas Department of Transportation.
Amarillo was the largest Texas city on the highway. A mile of the old route now presents a variety of antique and specialty shops, along with unique restaurants. They are located on 6th Street between Georgia and Western.
