Sabine National Forest in east Texas excompasses 157,951 acres of Southern pine and hard woods along the shores of the Toledo Bend Reservoir, which borders Louisiana. Toledo Bend Reservoir, a 65-mile-long impoundment of the Sabine River, yields bass, bluegill, catfish and crappie; a number of recreation sites are along the shoreline.
Other area of interest in the forest are Beach Ravines Scenic Area, Mill Cove Scenic Area, Red Hills Lake and Colorow Scenic Area. Recreation areas include Ragtown, Willow Oak, Lakeview and Indian Mounds Wilderness Area.
