The Star of the Republic Museum unveiled of the first floor renovation in October 2000. The first floor is dedicated to the chronological history making of Texas. The First Texans shows the many tribes and wildlife of the untamed country. The sect ion devoted to the European exploration boasts of artifacts from LaSalles sunken ship the LaBelle, that was recovered from Matagorda Bay in 1997.
Other exhibits include A Beautiful, Promising Land, Seeds of Change, Gone to Texas, and Voices and Faces of Texas.
Administered by Blinn College in Brenham, the Star of the Republic Museum is open from 10 am to 5 p.m. daily. It is located within Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historical Park, off State Highway 105 and FM 1155.
