Built in 1828 by Adolphus Sterne as home for his new bride. The pioneer merchant was active in ill-fated Fredonia rebellion of 1826-27; helped with founding of Texas Republic. The Sterne-Hoya Home is the only house in Nacogdoches built before the Texas Revolution by Adolphus Sterne. Restored sections of the 1828 house feature old tools, glassware and antiques as well as a children's library.
