WhiteHead Memorial Museum |
Has a collection of original and replicated pioneer buildings that include a hacienda and a log cabin. The barn houses early farming and transportation equipment, including a Southern Pacific caboose and exhibits relating to the regions prehistoric inhabitants. The Jersey Lily, a replica of Judge Roy Bean's saloon and court, contains his memorabilia. The grave of the Judge and his son are on the grounds.

The Whitehead Memorial Museum is dedicated to the preservation of Del Rio's heritage as well as Val Verde County's. The museum came to life in 1962 when the Whiteheads, a noted local ranching family, purchased the old Perry Mercantile building (shown above) and donated it to the City of Del Rio and Val Verde County, to be utilized as a museum. |
