President of the United States |
The position of President was established by the U.S. Constitution as the head of the executive branch of the Federal Government. The President is nominated by one of the political parties and is officially elected by the Electoral College.
The Constitution requires that the President be a natural born U.S. citizen and at least 35 years of age. To this time, all U.S. Presidents have been men. In order of election, they have been:
