Blanding is located in
San Juan County in southeast Utah along US 191 south of
Monticello. Nestled between Monument Valley to the south, Mesa Verde to the east, Lake Powell to the west and Moab to the north, Blanding calls itself "The base camp for adventure." The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 3,516, an increase of 354 since 1990.
