The Sporting Gallery provides a perfect setting for the display of fine paintings and sculpture. Founded in 1955 by R. Gordon Barton, the gallery opened in Middleburg, Virginia in 1963 and is still located there today, making it one of the oldest sporting galleries in North America. Works by most of the major sporting artists from George Stubbs to Sir Alfred Munnings have been bought and sold through the gallery. They maintain an extensive private library for research and appraisals.
