Virginia Marine Science Museum is one of the top aquariums in the country with more than 800,000 gallons of aquariums and live animal habitats, over 300 hands-on exhibits, an outdoor aviary, and ten acres of marsh habitat. The animal highlights include sharks, sea turtles, harbor seals, river otters, and stingrays. Seasonal whale and dolphin watching boat trips, and pontoon boat trips are available. Its mission is to increase the public's knowledge and appreciation of Virginia’s marine environment and inspire commitment to preserve its existence.
