Virginia Marine Science Museum |
The museum, comprised of two buildings linked by a wooded trail, explores Virginia's marine environment through hands-on and live exhibits. Owls Creek Marsh Pavilion features Macro Marsh and Micro Marsh, an aviary and a river otter habitat, as well as other live exhibits. The main museum building houses the 300,000-gallon Norfolk Canyon Aquarium, which features sharks and other live creatures; a harbor seal habitat; a floor-to-ceiling Sea Turtle Aquarium; a hands-on area; and the Family Channel IMAX 3-D Theater. Open daily 9am-9pm, June 15-Labor Day; 9am-5pm the rest of the year. Closed major holidays.
