The museum contains art treasures from ancient Greece, Rome, the Orient, and pre-Columbian America; European and American paintings and sculpture; and decorative arts from the 12th century to the present. Comprising 30,000 pieces, the museum's collection is diverse. Among artists represented are Mary Cassatt, Edgar Degas, Paul Gaugin, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso and more; a photography gallery is also featured.
