The Lynchburg Symphony, one of the most successful cultural jewels of Central Virginia, has made remarkable progress since its beginning in 1983. Indeed, it is rare that a symphony of its quality is experienced in a city of Lynchburg's size. Lynchburg has a talented group of instrumentalists and a larger corps of professional musicians than Roanoke or Danville. They are a racially-diverse group, united in their appreciation of music. With a strong city schools music program, young school musicians are invited to play in the orchestra when they successfully audition, an opportunity rarely available in other communities. Bruce Habitzruther is the music director/conductor of the Symphony. Call the box office for a schedule of performances.
