Martinsville is located in
Henry County 58 miles south of
Roanoke and just north of the North Carolina state line, on Hwy 58 in the
Central Region of the state. Philpott Reservoir and
Fairy Stone State Park are nearby. It was named for Gen. Joseph Martin. Historic museums include the Virginia Museum of Natural History.
