Smithfield Virginia

Smithfield is located in Isle of Wight County in the Eastern Region of the state. Known internationally for its hams, Smithfield is one of Virginia's best preserved Colonial seaports. The restored 1750 Isle of Wight Courthouse contains the Isle of Wight Tourism Bureau, which offers guided tours of the historic district. It is listed as a Virginia historic landmark and on the National Historic Register; there is a charge for the tours. Smithfield is located just northwest of Portsmouth on Hwy 10; Fort Boykin Historic Park and Chippokes Plantation State Park are nearby.
