Comments: If you are looking for a place to call home, and enjoy a quiet, peaceful lifestyle, with a love of the mountains, you may want to call Buchanan County home. There is the blight on the landscape that the coal companies have made over time, but it is relatively easy to drive up into the mountains to escape that.Much reclamation has been done to erase damage done to the mountains by strip mining. The main town, Grundy, is very small. The county is isolated. No walmart-yet. If you are the type to want to live a self-sufficient lifestyle, with a community that understands that concept, Buchanan County is for you. It is definately Southern, people are very friendly, and morals remain very high. Be careful if you buy land-most coal companies own mineral rights, with only surface rights being sold.

Comments: Grundy is my hometown and i have moved away several times but always seem to find way back .I dont think I could call anywhere else home .If you ever move here or visist you'll fall in love with the mountains not to many people leave without falling in love with our mountains and friendly people.
